AMS Studies in Music publication subvention

About this program

The American Musicological Society, in partnership with Oxford University Press, offers the AMS Studies in Music publication subvention providing $3,000 per accepted book to reimburse direct publication costs, with an additional $2,000 (total $5,000) available to contingent faculty, independent scholars, and other non-remunerated researchers. The series welcomes proposals addressing musical issues from any historical, theoretical, or ethnomusicological perspective and is supported by NEH, the Mellon Foundation, the Gladys Kriebel Delmas Foundation, and individual donors. Eligible applicants are authors of book-length musicological manuscripts; contingent and independent scholars are eligible for the enhanced subvention. Proposals must be submitted electronically to series editor Gurminder K. Bhogal (amsstudies@amsmusicology.org and gbhogal@wellesley.edu) and include a detailed project description, chapter contents, current status, projected completion date, and one or more sample chapters; subvention is provided upon acceptance into the AMS Studies series.
