Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Humanities

About this program

The Wolf Humanities Center at the University of Pennsylvania offers five one-year Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowships for humanities scholars whose interdisciplinary research engages the 2027–2028 theme, “Empire.” Fellows receive a minimum $67,000 stipend, $3,000 research fund, health insurance, mentorship, and opportunities for teaching and participation in seminars and public programming. Applicants must have received or expect to receive a humanities or allied-field PhD between May 2022 and December 2026, and must be able to reside at Penn for the fellowship year; scholars in tenure-track positions are less preferred. Applications, including a research plan, course proposal, CV, writing sample, and three recommendation letters, are due through Interfolio by November 1, 2026.
