Anthropology Internship Program (AMNH)

About this program

The American Museum of Natural History’s Anthropology Internship Program offers academic-credit, unpaid, and paid internships for undergraduate and graduate students to work on museum collections or curatorial research projects in the museum or the field across areas such as ethnology, biological anthropology, collections management, archives, and regional archaeology. Internships may be paid (positions posted via AMNH Careers) or unpaid and can provide academic credit. Session-specific application windows for 2026 are: for all internships except North American Archaeology—Summer (submit Mar 1–Apr 15), Fall (submit Jun 1–Jul 15), Spring 2026 (submit Oct 1–Nov 15); for North American Archaeology—Summer (submit Jan 1–Mar 1), Fall (submit Jun 1–Jul 10), Spring 2026 (submit Oct 1–Nov 10). Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students pursuing careers in anthropology, museums, or related fields; admission is competitive, the number of interns varies by staff projects, and internships are limited to a maximum of two sessions.
