Arthur B. Metzner Early Career Award

The Society of Rheology offers the Arthur B. Metzner Early Career Award, presented at most annually to an early-career researcher who has distinguished themselves in rheological research, practice, or service; the award includes a plaque and a $7,500 honorarium. Eligible nominees must have received their terminal degree no earlier than twelve years prior to the award year. Nominations may be submitted by any Society member by the designated deadline (typically the last Friday in February), are reviewed by a five-member Metzner Award Committee appointed by the President, and require Executive Committee approval. The Society particularly encourages nominations from individuals from groups traditionally underrepresented in rheology and affirms a selection process free from bias.
