Arthur Casagrande Professional Development Award

The American Society of Civil Engineers’ Geo‑Institute administers the Arthur Casagrande Professional Development Award to recognize and support outstanding young practitioners, researchers, and teachers in geotechnical engineering, honoring distinguished accomplishments demonstrated by completed works, reports, or papers; the award comprises a certificate and an honorarium (amount set annually from endowment income). Candidates must be 35 years of age or less on December 31 of the calendar year nominated and may be nominated by members of the Geo‑Institute; nominees themselves need not be ASCE members. Nominations are submitted via an online form and must include a signed cover letter, the nominee’s CV/biographical information, and two to three letters of recommendation, with the complete package limited to 10 pages. The announcement page lists an August 15 nomination date annually, and nominees not selected are held over for up to two additional cycles provided they still meet the age requirement.
