ASAB Childcare Grants

About this program

The Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour (ASAB) offers Childcare Grants of up to £750 to help members with young children cover additional childcare-related costs so they can attend ASAB conferences and workshops. Grants may reimburse carers’ expenses (e.g., accommodation, travel) and can pay for childcare only if the carer has formal recognition in the country where care is provided; applications are typically processed in three rounds (usual deadlines 1 Feb, 1 Jun, 1 Oct) via the ASAB Childcare Grant form. Applicants must be current ASAB members or have applied for membership by the closing date and the award is restricted to attendance at ASAB conferences; ASAB usually does not fund applicants based in the Americas and cannot accept applications from countries subject to UK financial sanctions. Priority may be given to first‑time and early‑career applicants and presenters, a referee statement from a senior colleague is required, and successful applicants are normally reimbursed after the conference upon submission of receipts.
