ASABE Initiative Fund

About this program

The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) offers the Initiative Fund to provide seed money for new activities, programs, and pilot projects that advance Society objectives and Board goals; awards are made from ASABE’s restricted reserve and annual funding availability is determined by the Finance Committee and Board. Optional preproposals (up to 4 pages) may be submitted any time for feedback, while full proposals (required for consideration, up to 8 pages including cover) are reviewed in three annual board cycles with submission windows June 2–Sept 1, Sept 2–Mar 1, and March 2–June 1. Applicants must be ASABE members or groups within the Society, demonstrate clear alignment with Society objectives, provide a detailed budget and milestones, and are encouraged to obtain endorsements from relevant Councils/committees/divisions; members of the Presidents group, Board of Trustees, and headquarters staff are recommended not to be listed as requestors. Approved projects require a final report within one year of project completion (multi‑year awards require interim and annual summaries); templates, submission instructions, and inquiries are available via the ASABE website and InitiativeFund@asabe.org.
