ASCB Innovation in Research Award

About this program

The American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) offers the Innovation in Research Award to recognize early- and mid‑career scientists for new, innovative contributions to cell biology based on work completed within three years prior to nomination. The recipient receives $1,000, a plaque, complimentary registration and abstract submission for the annual Cell Bio meeting, and an invitation to speak at the meeting. Eligible applicants must be ASCB members who are early career (within seven years of appointment) or mid‑career (7–15 years in an independent position), with selection based on innovative research contributions and demonstrated commitment to ASCB’s vision and values. Candidates may self‑apply or be nominated and must provide a ≤2‑page narrative and ≤2‑page letter of support (or nominator letter and support letter), plus a biosketch (NIH format or similar, ≤5 pages); ASCB does not use journal impact factors and collects optional demographic data to track inclusivity.
