ASEV Merit Award

About this program

The American Society for Enology and Viticulture (ASEV) awards the ASEV Merit Award to recognize outstanding individual achievement in enology or viticulture—including education, technology, research, management, public relations, or related disciplines—and the honor is recognition-based rather than monetary. Nominations are solicited (for the 2025 Merit Award submissions accepted through August 1) and candidates are recommended by the ASEV Awards Committee and approved by the Board of Directors. Eligible applicants are individuals who have made outstanding and distinguished contributions to the progress and advancement of enology or viticulture for the Society and/or the wine industry; there are no geographic restrictions and ASEV membership is not required. The award is normally presented to a single individual (sharing may be approved by the Board in exceptional circumstances) and is awarded posthumously only if the recipient was alive when the award was announced.
