ASIS&T Award for Research in Information Science

About this program

The Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) offers the ASIS&T Award for Research in Information Science to recognize an outstanding program of research (beyond a single study but not a lifetime’s work) by an individual or team; the award consists of a plaque and a brief presentation at the ASIS&T Annual Meeting. Nominations are evaluated by a jury on five equally weighted criteria — Intellectual Merit, Broader Impact, Coherence of the Contribution, Methodological Innovation, and Transformation/Transcendence — with key dates: jury appointment March 15, submission deadline April 1 (or adjacent weekday), and selection by May 15. Eligible nominees are individuals or research teams involved in information science research or developmental programs that include research and must be current ASIS&T members in good standing; prior Award of Merit recipients, prior winners, current Awards & Honors Committee members, and current Board members are ineligible. Nominations must be submitted via the ASIS&T online portal and include nominee and nominator contact information, a 200–500 word nomination statement, a nominating letter (up to 3 pages), up to three letters of support (up to 3 pages each), and three to five supporting documents.
