ASIS&T Award of Merit

About this program

The Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) offers the Award of Merit, a lifetime-achievement honor recognizing sustained scholarly advances or outstanding professional contributions in information science and related fields; the non-monetary award (engraved Revere Bowl and printed citation) is presented at the ASIS&T Annual Meeting. Nominee and nominator must both be current ASIS&T members in good standing; prior Award of Merit recipients and current members of the Awards & Honors Committee or Board of Directors are ineligible, and nominations are carried forward for up to two additional years unless withdrawn. Nominations are submitted via the ASIS&T online portal (typical recurring dates: jury appointment March 15, submission deadline April 1, selection by May 15) and must include nominee contact information and CV, a 200–500 word nomination statement, a letter of nomination (up to three pages), optionally one significant work, and up to three supporting letters; candidates are judged equally on impact on theory, impact on practice, leadership, education and mentoring, and sustained involvement.
