Association for Industrial Archaeology Restoration Grants

About this program

The Association for Industrial Archaeology (AIA) offers Restoration Grants to fund conservation and restoration of industrial heritage, prioritising volunteer-involved capital works; awards are up to £30,000 for major projects and £10,000 for small projects. The AIA normally expects its grant to represent at least 20% of total project costs, and small projects must have total costs (excluding volunteer labour) not exceeding £12,500. Eligible applicants are volunteer‑led industrial heritage groups and organisations (for example local community trusts, parish councils, railway and canal trusts, museums and windmill societies); applicants should consult the published Criteria & Guidance and submit the Restoration Grant Application Form (PDF or DOCX) with submission details on the form or via the AIA secretary (secretary@industrial-archaeology.org).
