ASSTA Special Initiative Awards

About this program

The Australasian Speech Science and Technology Association (ASSTA) offers Special Initiative Awards to help members fund applications to nationally competitive research grants that advance speech science and technology initiatives in Australasia. Up to two awards are made each year, each worth up to $5,000; applications may be submitted at any time with decisions typically within four weeks (allow up to eight weeks for December/January submissions). Principal applicants must be long‑standing ordinary ASSTA members (financial for at least two continuous years) employed in Australia or New Zealand, with preference for proposals involving a critical mass of Australasian ASSTA members. Projects must be part of a nationally competitive program (e.g., ARC schemes), involve co‑investigators/partner organisations providing matching funds, acknowledge ASSTA as a partner, and awards are only claimed if the external grant application succeeds.
