ASTS Collaborative Scientist Grant

About this program

The American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) offers the Collaborative Scientist Grant to support collaborative research in solid-organ transplantation, providing $50,000 per year for two years ($100,000 total) to cover direct research and educational costs (no applicant salary or indirect costs). Applicants must be ASTS members, surgical faculty at a UNOS‑approved transplant center residing in North America with an established research effort; collaborators must hold an advanced degree (MD/PhD/DVM or equivalent), demonstrate collaborative experience, and have a faculty appointment able to support the work. Awardees may not receive concurrent similar society or foundation funding for the same research, must attend the ASTS Grant Ceremony at the American Transplant Congress, present progress at the ASTS Winter Symposium and submit an abstract to ATC or the Winter Symposium during the grant period (or within six months of completion), and must submit mid‑ and final reports. One grant will be awarded in 2026; required application materials include a brief synopsis, a three‑page narrative (plus one page graphics), a one‑page budget, one‑page autobiographies, chair nomination and member sponsor letters, and CVs for applicant and collaborator.
