Auxiliary Emergency Fund (AEF) - Hardship Assistance for ALA Members

About this program

American Legion Auxiliary National Headquarters offers the Auxiliary Emergency Fund (AEF), providing one-time grants up to $3,000 to assist eligible ALA members with past-due mortgage/rent, essential household utilities, or recent loss of employment income. Only one AEF grant may be awarded per grantee within a 12-month period, and applications are reviewed by the AEF Review Committee with final consideration within up to 60 days. Applicants must be current ALA members with at least 36 consecutive months of continuous membership (ALA junior members are ineligible) and must submit a fully completed, signed and dated application in PDF with required supporting documentation (mortgage/utility statements, landlord past-due rent letter and lease if applicable, documentation of job/income loss, and a copy of driver’s license). Submit PDFs by email (preferred) to AEF@ALAforVeterans.org or aef@legion-aux.org, or by fax or mail; scanned images, cloud links, photos/screenshots or CamScanner documents are not accepted, and requested information must be provided within 30 days or the application will be closed.
