Award for Undergraduate Research

About this program

Offered by the American Chemical Society Division of Inorganic Chemistry (DIC), the Award for Undergraduate Research recognizes outstanding collaborative inorganic chemistry research by a student/preceptor team, with up to one award in each of three institutional categories; the student receives $1,000 and a plaque, the preceptor a plaque, and the division will reimburse up to $1,000 for travel to the INOR symposium where the student presents. Nominees must be seniors in the chemical sciences or have completed a bachelor’s degree within 12 months of nomination, and the recognized work must have been performed while the nominee was an undergraduate in the preceptor’s lab. The preceptor must be a faculty member or staff scientist at an eligible North American institution or laboratory and an active DIC member; self-nominations are not allowed and nominators (e.g., department chair or colleague) need not be ACS/DIC members. Submit a single English PDF by email to ugresearch@acsdic.org containing the completed form with a 25-word citation, student CV (1 page), preceptor CV (2 pages), a one-page nomination letter, and proof of the preceptor’s ACS/DIC membership.
