About this program
The Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) awards the Joan & Joseph Birman Research Prize in Topology and Geometry, a biennial prize established in 2013 and first presented in 2015, funded by Joan and Joseph Birman to recognize outstanding research in low-dimensional topology and geometry. The award highlights exceptional contributions by women in the field and seeks to advance the careers of recipients.
