The AORTIC-AACR Beginning Investigator Grant for Catalytic Research (BIG Cat), in association with the U.S. National Cancer Institute Center for Global Health, provides $60,000 over two years for early-career cancer researchers in Africa. Projects may address any area of cancer research relevant to reducing the cancer burden in Africa, with funds supporting research expenses and limited project-related travel. Applicants must hold a terminal doctoral or medical degree earned within the past 10 years, reside legally in Africa, conduct locally relevant research, and not have previously received a BIG Cat award. AORTIC membership in good standing is required, and a Letter of Intent is due May 12, 2026, followed by the full application deadline of September 8, 2026.
