Bertrand H. Bronson Student Paper Prize

About this program

The American Folklore Society’s Music and Song Section sponsors the Bertrand H. Bronson Student Paper Prize for the best student project combining research and analysis of a music or song tradition. Eligible submissions may be research papers of no more than 12,000 words or 25–60-minute audio or video projects accompanied by five to ten pages of annotation and analysis. Applicants should demonstrate familiarity with folkloristic or ethnographic approaches, and must include a cover letter describing when and how the project was produced and identifying the supervising faculty member. Submissions are due July 15 through the AFS Application Portal.
