Best Paper Awards (The Palaeontological Association)

About this program

The Palaeontological Association offers annual Best Paper Awards to recognize outstanding papers published in Palaeontology and Papers in Palaeontology, judged on scientific breadth and impact, novelty of approach, and quality of writing and illustration. A yearly list of published papers is compiled each October; science editors nominate papers with supporting statements, the Chair of the Editorial Board shortlists up to five, and the Editorial Board selects winners by vote. Corresponding authors of winning papers are offered payment of the Gold open access APC for one nominated paper submitted to Palaeontology or Papers in Palaeontology within 18 months and subsequently accepted. Awards are open to all authors regardless of age, nationality, or Association membership; eligible items include Frontiers Reviews, Rapid Communications, and regular research articles, and no external application is required.
