Botanical Advocacy and Service Grant

About this program

The Botanical Society of America (BSA) and the American Society of Plant Taxonomists (ASPT) offer the annual Botanical Advocacy and Service Grant, a $1,000 award to support projects that shape public policy, broaden public engagement, or connect the public and policymakers with botanical science; recipients are recognized at the annual Botany meeting. Proposals should demonstrate activities that improve public knowledge, engage policymakers, or take hands-on action on plant-related issues, and projects that enable longer-term change or support those facing systemic disadvantage are prioritized. Applicants must state their qualifications and institutional affiliation; awardees are required to submit a brief summary with an image to the Plant Science Bulletin by August 15 of the year following the project. The program is closed for 2026 applications—check back in early 2027 to apply.
