BPS Supplemental Funding Announcement (Cycle 2 2026) — Measures to Advance the Science of Engagement in Research (Invitation Only)

About this program

PCORI is soliciting invitation-only supplemental applications from existing Broad Pragmatic Studies (BPS) awardees to fund 12–24‑month "studies within a study" that develop and validate measures to advance the science of engagement in research, including measures of structure/context, process, and outcomes; individual awards are limited to $750,000 (total program funding up to $10 million). Projects must focus on engagement of partners across the research lifecycle (planning, conduct, dissemination) rather than interventions to increase patient clinical or self-care engagement, and must address PCORI’s Foundational Expectations for Partnerships in Research with meaningful patient and stakeholder involvement. Applications are by invitation only (no LOI required); PCORI Online opens June 2, 2026 and the application deadline is Sept 1, 2026, with awards announced April 2027 and earliest start August 2027.
