Brenda S. Banks Travel Award (SAA Annual Meeting travel support for archivists of color)

Sponsored by the Society of American Archivists’ Archivists and Archives of Color Section and funded by the SAA Foundation, the Brenda S. Banks Travel Award provides travel support to enable archivists of color to attend the SAA Annual Meeting for professional development and networking. One recipient per cycle receives complimentary full registration, reimbursement of related hotel and travel expenses for the award year, and a one‑year SAA membership. Eligible applicants are individuals of American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx, Middle Eastern/North African, or Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander descent who have demonstrated professional archival experience and have not previously attended an SAA Annual Meeting. Applications (due February 28) must include a CV/résumé and a personal statement (≤500 words) addressing professional goals, commitment to documenting/preserving histories of communities of color, benefits of attending the Annual Meeting, and commitment to SAA/diversity and inclusion.
