CAIMS-SCMAI Research Prize

About this program

The Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematics Society (CAIMS‑SCMAI) awards the CAIMS‑SCMAI Research Prize to recognize innovative, exceptional research contributions in applied or industrial mathematics; the prize includes $1,000, a commemorative plaque, invitation to give a plenary lecture at the CAIMS Annual Meeting, and a travel allowance. The award recognizes a focused body of work with significant impact rather than a lifetime achievement, and nominations are evaluated annually by the Research Prize Committee. Eligible nominees are individual researchers with a demonstrable strong relationship to Canada (e.g., CAIMS membership, appointment at a Canadian institution, or research primarily conducted in Canada), and nominations must be submitted by others on the nominee’s behalf. Nomination packages—submitted via CAIMS’s Open Nominations page—must include a title for the research area, a five‑line media summary, a detailed description of contributions (maximum two pages), a tailored CV, four reprints related to the area, and a brief statement explaining the nominee’s relationship to Canada.
