CAIMS/PIMS Early Career Award

About this program

Canadian Applied and Industrial Mathematics Society (CAIMS) offers the CAIMS/PIMS Early Career Award to recognize outstanding research in any branch of applied mathematics; the prize includes $1,000, a commemorative plaque, an invitation to deliver a plenary lecture at the CAIMS Annual Meeting, and a travel allowance. Eligibility is limited to researchers within ten years of their Ph.D. (for the 2026 meeting the Ph.D. must be 2016 or later), with extensions for career interruptions (e.g., parental leave or illness), and nominees’ research should have been conducted primarily in Canada or in affiliation with a Canadian university. Nominations must include a cover letter, up to three letters of support (at least two from referees who are neither former PhD/postdoc mentors nor collaborators), a CV (and publication list if not in the CV), and a brief statement of the nominee’s relationship to Canada; unsuccessful but still-eligible nominations may be renominated the following year.
