Call for Articles: "Out of Context" series on Cultural Appropriation

American Composers Forum, in partnership with I CARE IF YOU LISTEN, is commissioning a ten-month series titled “Out of Context” to explore cultural appropriation in music through monthly essays and interviews; authors will receive an equitable honorarium (amount unspecified). Submissions of essays, interviews, pitches, referrals, and recommendations are invited and should be sent to editor@icareifyoulisten.com. Applicants may be artists, authors, academics, and practitioners, with a particular encouragement for non-white voices and co-authorships that center non-white perspectives; contributors should be prepared to engage respectfully with historical context and accept that some culturally specific materials may not be appropriate for use.
