Carnevali Small Research Grants Scheme

About this program

The Economic History Society offers the Carnevali Small Research Grants Scheme, awarding up to £5,000 to support small-scale research projects or pilot studies in economic and social history aimed at specific publication outcomes or to underpin future funding applications. Grants cover direct research costs only and explicitly exclude conference attendance, equipment, publication costs, subsistence, administration, salary buy-out/teaching cover, indirect costs, and room hire at the applicant's home institution. Applicants must be members of the Economic History Society and be employed by or affiliated to a UK higher-education institution; the online application form is visible only to logged-in Society members. Deadlines are 1 May and 1 November each year, with outcomes usually communicated within 6–8 weeks.
