The Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (CASES) offers the Prof Edward Winter Early-to Mid-Career Researcher Project Grant: one award of up to £5,000 annually to support an early-to mid-career researcher in developing their professional identity via a research project that can be completed using existing resources and infrastructure (results announced within eight weeks; applications close 15 July each year). Applicants must hold a PhD or Professional Doctorate awarded within the last 10 years and have been a CASES Professional Member for at least one full year, with possible adjustments for career breaks within the first five years. Projects should primarily request funding for staff time and consumables rather than major new infrastructure; allowable costs exclude indirects/overheads and certain items (e.g., conference fees, professional memberships), and applications must include the completed form, two‑page CV, line‑manager support letter and a detailed project plan. Applicants must not have submitted a CASES Project Grant in the past year or received one within the past three years; awardees must acknowledge CASES, present at the CASES Annual Conference, and submit a financial report and ~1,500‑word article within 18 months or repay the grant.
