Charles H. Sternberg Medal

About this program

The Association of Applied Paleontological Sciences (AAPS) offers the Charles H. Sternberg Medal, its highest honor, for outstanding lifetime achievement in paleontology or for fostering cooperation between professional, amateur, academic, and commercial paleontologists. Recipients receive a cast bronze medal and lifetime honorary AAPS membership. AAPS members may submit nominees to the board of directors for consideration; nominees may be members or nonmembers and should have made substantial contributions to paleontology or strengthened collaboration across the field. The award is discretionary and need not be presented annually.
