About this program

The California State Treasurer’s Office, through the California Health Facilities Financing Authority (CHFFA), administers up to $1.35 billion in Proposition 4 bond funding for capital improvement projects at eligible California children’s hospitals. Awards range from $1 to $135 million, with funding provided through advances and/or reimbursements depending on the hospital type, and no matching funds are required.

Eligibility is limited to the 13 statutorily designated children’s hospitals—eight private nonprofit hospitals and five University of California hospitals—or eligible children’s hospitals applying jointly. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis through June 30, 2033, and are generally due by the first business day of each month, except November.
