CIRM Preclinical Development (PDEV) Awards — Accelerating Therapies to the Clinic

About this program

California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) is offering Preclinical Development (PDEV) awards to fund preclinical studies, IND-enabling work, FDA IND clearance and clinical trial startup for innovative stem cell‑based and genetic therapies. Awards aim to clear a single IND and CIRM anticipates funding 7–12 projects in FY26–27, with up to $13 million per award and a maximum duration of five years; applications open July/August 2026 and are due October 2026. Applicants must be a CIRM-defined California Organization (at least one W‑2 employee, >50% of W‑2 employees domiciled in California, and the PI physically located in California), propose studies supporting one IND, and provide data showing reproducible disease‑modifying activity for the candidate.
