Civil Money Penalty Reinvestment Grant

About this program

The California Department of Public Health offers Civil Money Penalty Reinvestment Grants to fund projects that improve the quality of life and care for residents of certified California Skilled Nursing Facilities. Eligible activities include person-centered care, infection control training, culture change, arts and engagement, and other direct resident-focused improvements; projects may last up to 36 months and are reimbursed based on approved expenses. Eligible applicants include skilled nursing facilities, government entities, nonprofit and consumer advocacy organizations, educational institutions, industry associations, commercial organizations, and others, with no matching funds required. Applicants must use the CDPH template, and projects may not be research-only, duplicate CMS requirements, fund staff salaries or capital improvements, or rely on high-cost complex technologies.
