About this program

The ASHFoundation offers Clinical Research Grants for independent one- or two-year studies advancing treatment efficacy, assessment practices, or implementation of evidence in audiology and speech-language pathology. Awards provide up to $50,000 for one year or $75,000 over two years and are intended to generate preliminary data for larger externally funded research; the next program will be offered in 2027. Eligible applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent research doctorate in communication sciences and disorders or a related field, demonstrate potential for independent research, and propose a new study with direct clinical significance and a clear plan for future extramural funding. Human-subjects studies require IRB approval or documented progress toward approval, and proposals must be feasible for completion within two years.
