About this program

The Coachella Valley Mountains Conservancy offers state-funded grants to acquire mountainous or natural community conservation lands in or near the Coachella Valley Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan area, with limited support for capital improvements on existing conservation lands. Projects should protect wildlife or cultural resources and enhance recreational or educational use, with priority given to acquisitions implementing the Habitat Conservation Plan; matching funds are preferred but not required. Eligible applicants include nonprofits, public agencies, and tribal governments. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis as funding permits, with approximately $5.5 million available.
