About this program
The California State Coastal Conservancy offers rolling grants for projects that restore and protect the California coast, San Francisco Bay, and coastal watersheds; expand public access; preserve natural and working lands; and strengthen climate resilience. Funding may support feasibility studies, acquisition, planning, design, permitting, construction, and monitoring, but not operations and maintenance; projects typically last three to four years and are reimbursed primarily in arrears. Eligible applicants include federal, state, local, and special-district government agencies, federally recognized tribes, and 501(c)(3) nonprofits whose purposes align with state law. Projects must fall within the Conservancy’s jurisdiction, and matching funds are not required.
