Cogan Award

About this program

The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) offers the Cogan Award to recognize an emerging researcher who has made significant contributions to ophthalmology or visual science related to disorders of the human eye or visual system. The recipient presents the Cogan Award Lecture at the ARVO Annual Meeting and receives a plaque, complimentary registration, travel, hotel, and per diem; applications open November 1, 2026, and close March 1, 2027. Nominees must be 45 or younger by the deadline and demonstrate substantial promise for future contributions; ARVO membership is not required. Nominations must include a nomination letter, three supporter letters, a summary statement, Google Scholar profile, and current CV.
