Columbia Medal (ASCE)

About this program

ASCE’s Aerospace Division awards the endowed Columbia Medal to recognize sustained outstanding contributions to aerospace engineering, sciences, and technology (including teaching, research, design, development, planning, construction, management, or direct participation in space-borne missions and ground-support activities); recipients receive a medal and an honorarium (amount set annually) and the award is normally conferred in even-numbered years or withheld if no suitable candidate is found. Nominees must be ASCE members in good standing (student members excluded) and exemplify ASCE’s highest standards and Code of Ethics. Nominations require a nominator-signed cover letter, the nominee’s CV/biographical information, and two to three letters of recommendation (maximum) and are reviewed by the Aerospace Division Awards Committee with final approval by the ASCE Executive Committee. Nomination deadline is November 1 (year not specified); the medal is presented at the ASCE Convention or the Aerospace Division Conference.
