Comitas Award for Significant Applications of Anthropology

About this program

The Society for Applied Anthropology (SfAA) offers the Lambros Comitas Award for Significant Applications of Anthropology to fund applied, community-driven projects that address persistent community issues and promote equitable solutions, providing up to $10,000 in direct costs (no indirect costs allowed). Eligible projects include community-driven applied/action research, service-learning or experiential learning, collaborative networks between social scientists and communities, anthropological training in collaborative ethnography, and communities of practice, with priority given to early-career applicants and projects in the Caribbean or Caribbean diaspora. Applicants must hold current SfAA membership and submit a detailed project narrative (community issue, partners and roles, collaboration methods, expected outcomes, and public dissemination plan), brief summaries of key personnel, and a line-item budget; awardees must present their in-process or completed project at the SfAA Annual Meeting. Proposals are submitted to info@appliedanthro.org by October 1 (year not specified).
