Community Investigative Journalism Prize

About this program

The Nebraska Press Association offers the Community Investigative Journalism Prize to recognize impactful, in-depth reporting by Nebraska’s community newspapers, honoring investigative stories that demonstrate meaningful local impact and the public‑service mission of smaller newsrooms. One winner is selected annually and receives $1,000 total, split evenly between the reporter and their newspaper. Eligible entries must be first‑place winners in the In‑Depth Writing category of the NPA Better Newspaper Contest and must not have received the A‑Mark Prize for Investigative Journalism; both weekly and daily community newspapers in Nebraska are eligible.
