About this program

Royal Engineers Association's McCabe Community, Unit and Branch Support (CUBS) Grant funds aspirational community‑building initiatives across Regular and Reserve Royal Engineer units, REA Branches, Sapper communities, activity clubs and affiliated Corps‑connected organisations, with priority for projects that strengthen cohesion, wellbeing, esprit de corps and adventurous training. Grants typically support tangible assets and discrete projects (operational tour grants: up to £5,000 for deploying units and £2,500 for independently deploying sub‑units); awards are paid electronically in quarterly cycles (Apr, Jul, Oct, Dec), must be claimed in one sum and spent within 2026. Eligible applicants must apply online via The Sapper Charity website by 30 November 2026 and supply project details, budgets and quotes, justification, endorsements, delivery timelines and a unit/branch contribution; funding cannot be used for individuals, ongoing running/maintenance costs, fees/licenses, travel/subsistence/accommodation, equipment hire or expeditions normally funded by Adventurous Training Funds.
