Conservation Research Small Grants (SCB Marine Program)

About this program

Society for Conservation Biology’s Marine Program awards Conservation Research Small Grants to fund short-term research, conservation, and restoration activities that advance marine biodiversity conservation and support communities reliant on healthy marine systems. Grants of $750–$1,000 USD must be spent within 12 months and are intended primarily for work in low- and middle-income countries that align with the Marine Program’s goals to disseminate science, inform policy, and build capacity. Applicants must be members of SCB’s Marine Program and conduct work in eligible countries (exceptions considered with justification); priority is given to first-time applicants and projects demonstrating capacity to complete the work (e.g., matching funds or in‑country support). Eligible costs include local training and educational materials, field surveys, travel to research sites, participant travel for workshops, and research equipment and supplies; conference travel, personal expenses, salaries, tuition, and indirect/overhead costs are ineligible.
