Construction Management Award

About this program

The American Society of Civil Engineers’ Construction Institute administers the Construction Management Award, endowed by Marvin Gates and Amerigo Scarpa (instituted 1973), to recognize an individual who has made outstanding contributions to construction management as a practitioner, educator, or researcher; the award includes a certificate and an honorarium (amount set annually). Eligible nominees must be members in good standing of ASCE or the Construction Institute for at least five years, and self-nominations are not accepted; no more than one award is made each year unless the achievement is shared. Nominations require a nominator-signed cover letter, the nominee’s CV/biographical information, and two or three letters of recommendation (maximum), submitted via the ASCE nomination form. Nominations are reviewed by the Construction Management Award Subcommittee in Sept–Oct with recommendations in November; winners are typically presented at the Construction Institute Summit or the ASCE Annual Convention, and nominees not selected are carried over one cycle unless re-nominated.
