Coral Reef Conservation Award

About this program

The International Coral Reef Society offers the annual Coral Reef Conservation Award to recognize regionally or globally significant contributions to coral reef protection, management, research, education, or restoration. One recipient receives a certificate, a US$2,500 cash prize for coral reef and marine conservation activities, and invitations to present at the ICRS symposium and contribute to Reef Encounters. Candidates should demonstrate a substantial record of achievement spanning at least 10 years, with internationally important outcomes even if their work is geographically limited. No educational, ICRS membership, or service requirements apply; nominations are due February 15 and must provide sufficient evidence of qualifications and accomplishments, with one or both support letters permitted from non-members.
