About this program
The Consortium of Strong Motion Observation Systems (COSMOS), Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI), and Seismological Society of America (SSA) jointly award the annual Bruce Bolt Medal to recognize individuals whose work advances strong-motion earthquake data and improves seismic safety through practice or policy. Nominees must demonstrate all three selection criteria: contributions to strong-motion instrumentation or data use, technical achievements in earthquake engineering or engineering seismology, and leadership in transferring knowledge into practice or policy. COSMOS, EERI, and SSA members may nominate colleagues by June 30, submitting a nomination letter, curriculum vitae or professional summary, contact information, three endorsements, and a signed disclosure form.
