County-wide and Regional Funding Program

About this program

The State Water Resources Control Board offers statewide SAFER Program funding for regional drinking water initiatives addressing drought and contamination affecting state small water systems and domestic wells serving disadvantaged communities and low-income households. Funding supports counties and partners in establishing proactive programs to respond to anticipated and emergency needs; awards are provided through reimbursement and do not require matching funds. Eligible applicants include public agencies, nonprofit organizations, and tribal governments, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis.
