Courageous Service Award

About this program

Virginia Section American Water Works Association (VA AWWA) offers the Courageous Service Award to recognize water or wastewater utility employees who, during extraordinary or catastrophic events, demonstrated exceptional dedication that ensured continued provision of services to their community. Eligible nominees are individual utility employees (including any grade of VA AWWA or VWEA members) who within the past 12 months placed community needs above their own safety; military duty alone does not qualify. Nominations must be submitted via the VA AWWA online form and recommended by a VA AWWA or VWEA member, with entry forms received by June 30 for consideration; the VA AWWA Executive Director investigates submissions and the Nominations Committee selects recipients, who are honored at the VA AWWA Annual Meeting (WaterJAM) Awards Luncheon.
