CSSA Early Career Award

About this program

The Crop Science Society of America (CSSA) offers the annual CSSA Early Career Award to recognize outstanding contributions in crop science by individuals within seven years of completing their terminal degree; the award includes a certificate, a complimentary ticket to the award ceremony, and $2,000. Applications are accepted annually from January through March 25 via the CSSA awards platform. Nominees must be living, current CSSA members who are within seven years of their final degree as of December 31 of the award year and may not be former recipients or members of the CSSA Awards Committee or Board; nominators need not be CSSA members but committee/board members are ineligible to serve as nominators or references. Nominations require a nominator letter, nominee degrees and positions, narratives and quantified evidence of teaching, extension/outreach, research or private‑sector contributions, public/professional service, and a list of up to 12 significant professional contributions, with evaluation based on documented excellence across these areas.
