CTSC Core Utilization Pilot Grants

About this program

Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative (CTSC) at Case Western Reserve University offers Core Utilization Pilot Awards of up to $10,000 to support investigator use of eligible core facilities at CTSC partner institutions to generate preliminary data, foster cross-disciplinary collaborations, develop enabling technologies, and advance diagnostic, therapeutic, or outcomes research toward extramural funding and publications. Awards are paid to investigators via partner institutions and may be spent only on eligible Core services; projects must be completed within six months and non‑Core budget items will be denied. Eligible PIs must have a primary appointment at CWRU, Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth Medical Center, University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, or the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center and be eligible to apply for larger federal or non‑federal support. Application requires a two‑step submission (obtain a Project ID in SPARCRequest under "Core Utilization Pilot" then submit via InfoReady), follows a monthly review cycle (apps by 11:59 pm on the first of the month reviewed with decisions before the first of the following month), and repeat applicants whose prior CTSC award ended within 24 months must document how the new project differs.
