Daniel W. Mead Prize for Students

About this program

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) offers the Daniel W. Mead Prize for Students to promote professional development and recognize outstanding student papers on professional ethics, with up to five winners receiving certificates and the national winner receiving a plaque. The 2026 competition focuses on how civil engineers advance public welfare through ethical, community-centered infrastructure design consistent with the ASCE Code of Ethics. Applicants must be members in good standing of an ASCE or AEI Student Organization, which may submit one original, unpublished, single-author paper of no more than 2,000 words. Submissions require a faculty advisor cover letter and PDF paper by March 1, along with an attestation regarding student authorship and disclosure of any generative AI or NLP use.
