DEED Funding for Utilities — DEED Project Grants and Student Scholarships/Internships

About this program

The American Public Power Association’s DEED program offers project grants to public power utilities to support energy innovation—pilot projects, technology demonstrations, early commercialization, and development of best practices—with awards typically $25,000–$50,000 and up to $125,000. Funding targets efforts to increase efficiency, reduce costs, investigate new technologies, offer new services, and improve reliability, safety, security, and environmental performance. Only DEED member utilities may apply for project grants; student scholarships, internships, and technical education awards are available to students enrolled in accredited energy-related or lineworker programs but require a DEED member utility sponsor/mentor. Project grant deadlines are generally Feb 15 and Aug 15 (student deadlines Feb 15 and Oct 15); applications are submitted online, reporting is required, and applicants should contact DEED@PublicPower.org or 202-467-2942 for access and questions.
